Stage 25: mīlitēs

At the camp of the second legion in Deva (Chester), Vercobrix, the son of a famous Briton chieftain, has been imprisoned by the Romans. Crispus and Fronto, our heroic legionary soldiers, have been tasked with guarding him. What could possibly go wrong?

Crīspus

A centurion has Vercobrix, son of the chieftain of the Decangli, imprisoned and wants two soldiers, Crispus and Fronto, to guard him. Crispus is full of confidence, but is his judgement to be trusted?

A tribune comes to see where Vercobrix is being held. Despite the young man's hatred of the Romans, he orders the guards to improve conditions for the son of such a famous leader.

Frontō custōs I

Fronto is left guarding Vercobrix while Crispus goes off to look for food, but it seems that even the spiders might be against the Roman occupation!

Frontō custōs II

Crispus comes back to the prision to find it deserted. Where is Fronto? Where are all the prisoners? It might be time to leg it.. (legate...commander...get it?)

Frontō custōs III

Just as he is about to flee, Crispus hears groaning from the cell where Vercobrix was lying. Crispus threatens him with punishment if he has killed his dear friend Fronto, but ... he is in for quite a surprise!
